WELCOME TO COLUMBUS AFB YOUTH
PROGRAMS
Columbus AFB Youth Programs offers a wide variety of fun
programs for ages 3-18. The School Age Program is a
nationally accredited program by the Council on
Accreditation (COA), and provides quality, year-round child
care for youth in grades K-6. The Youth Sports and Fitness
Program consists of league sports, clinics and a regular
schedule of fitness activities for all ages. CAFB Youth
Programs also offers an array of instructional classes,
clinics, field trips, clubs, and recreational programs.
Youth Center Age Requirements

Youth five years of age may not utilize the center except when participating in supervised activities.

Youths ages 6-8 must be accompanied by a parent or a sibling of at least 16 years of age.

Youth ages 9-12 may enter the center unaccompanied but must leave by 1900 on a school night, except for supervised programs that may extend beyond 1900.

Youth ages 13 and older may enter the center unaccompanied at anytime during open recreation hours.
PROGRAM
ELIGIBILITY
Dependants of active duty military personnel, retiree’s, DOD civilians, NAF
employees and permanent contractors are eligible for Youth Programs
membership. Youths, age 3-5 may participate in those activities organized
specifically for their age group. Youths 6-8 years of age must be
accompanied by a parent or sibling over 16 years of age unless they are
participating in an activity that includes continuous adult supervision. ALL
YOUTHS MUST BE REGISTERED ON AF FORM 88.
PROGRAMS
TORCH CLUB
Torch Clubs are chartered small-group leadership and service clubs for boys
and girls ages 11-13. A Torch Club is a powerful vehicle through which Club
staff can help meet the special character development needs of younger
adolescents at a critical stage in their development. Torch Club members
learn to elect officers and work together to implement activities in four
areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness and
social recreation.
POWER HOUR
Sharpen your pencils and get ready for Power Hour: Making Minutes Count. The
program staff use strategies, activities, resources and information to
create an engaging homework help and tutoring program that encourages
members ages 6-12 and 13-18 to become self-directed learners.
Image Makers: NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST
This year-round program and annual contest encourage girls and boys ages
6-18 to learn and practice black and white, color and digital process
photography. The ImageMakers National Photography Contest provides local,
regional and national recognition. Select photographs are exhibited at B&GCA’s
National Conference, National Education Summit and Youth Development
Conferences.
FINE ARTS EXHIBIT PROGRAM
This year-round program encourages artistic expression among members aged
6-18 through drawing, painting, print making, collage, mixed media and
sculpture displayed at local and regional exhibits. A panel of distinguished
judges selects works for inclusion in the National Fine Arts Exhibit, which
debuts at B&GCA’s National Conference and is displayed throughout the
ensuing year.

SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
Moving
is hard, but it is also a time to meet new friends, find new
hangout spots, get involved in fun and different things, and
go on trips to interesting places. It’s also tough to be
the new kid in town. Youth Programs at Columbus would love
to help.
The Youth Sponsorship Program at Columbus was created by and
just for youth. We know that it is difficult to leave your
school and friends to move to a new place. That is why we
want to help make your transition a little bit easier. The
Youth Center can help whether you are departing or arriving
in Columbus, also available is a program orientation upon
arrival in Columbus.
It is easy to join in the fun of the youth sponsorship
program by calling or stopping by the Youth Center. All you
